Hot semen erupted over Taden’s stomach while clenching muscles gripped his cock. With a final, ecstatic thrust, he released his seed into his lover’s body. Nathaniel buried his face against his neck, and Taden felt his hot tears. “Darling, what is it?” Nathaniel’s lean chest rose and fell. “I’ve been with others,” he confessed in a quavering voice. “But I’ve never made love with someone before. It’s…shattering.” Taden swallowed a hard lump in his throat, unable to speak. He could only hold Nathaniel against his pounding heart. They sat together for several long moments, Taden’s soft cock cradled in Nathaniel’s body. But then he eased Nathaniel back and kissed the tears from his lovely face. “We should go. The Sutherlins will want retribution for the soldiers who were killed. We’re not safe, alone like this.” Taden was startled when Nathaniel cupped his face. “I love you,” he said, looking into Taden’s eyes then kissing him gently. * * * Taden shoved the last of the supplies into the saddlebags then crossed to the glen where the horses had been staked. Nathaniel was holding the reins of Taden’s horse as he joined him. “My lord,” Nathaniel said with a slight bow. Taden thrilled at the faint blush on his cheeks and the way Nathaniel’s eyes shown with happiness. Taden touched his lover’s face, caressing his soft, warm skin, then reached for the pummel of the stallion’s saddle and swung onto his back. Nathaniel climbed into his own saddle, and they rode the short distance through the trees to the shoreline. Taden enjoyed the day immensely as they alternately ran and walked the horses on the sand, the salty spray of the sea wafting into their faces. They rode abreast when they could. As the afternoon waned, they ate in the saddle, passing bread and cheese and dried fruit between them. Taden noted a strained look coming into Nathaniel’s eyes as the sun sank lower on the horizon and drew his horse to a walk. “What is it?” Nathaniel gave him an anxious glance, and Taden saw the raw spot on his pale lips where he’d worried them with his teeth. “We should have found the ship by now.” “Are you sure?” Nathaniel drew his horse to a stop, studying the position of the sun and the landscape around them. “It has to be close. I recognize that knoll of trees on the hill to the south.” “Maybe it washed out to sea,” Taden suggested, watching the waves crash on the beach. “It would have taken a storm to do that. I beached it well.” Taden shrugged, unperturbed. “Let’s keep going. It has to be here somewhere. We’ll find it.” He reached out to pull Nathaniel against his shoulder for a quick embrace. Later, he realized the move had probably saved his darling’s life as an arrow whistled past where Nathaniel’s body had been seconds before. A second arrow struck Nathaniel’s horse through the chest and Taden hauled Nathaniel into his arms as the horse went down. Taden’s stallion reared, unbalancing him, and Taden fell hard to the sand with Nathaniel in his arms. He grunted as the breath was knocked from him, but he frantically scrambled to his feet, hauling Nathaniel up with him. Soldiers in blue Sutherlin uniforms stepped out of the dense tree line, several with bows drawn. Two others carried swords. Taden felt Nathaniel flinch as a fifth soldier, supremely confident, walked onto the sand. A slow smile spread on the Sutherlin captain’s handsome face as he came up to Nathaniel and stood too close for Taden’s comfort. Taden clenched a hand as the man laughed, seeming pleased. “Couldn’t keep away, witch?” the man asked, then grabbed Nathaniel’s shirt and kissed him on the mouth. Nathaniel jerked back and slipped on the sand. Taden leaped forward, but a drawn sword froze him in place. He watched, enraged, as the Sutherlin captain knelt and shoved Nathaniel onto his back then straddled him. The man drew a knife from his belt, halting Nathaniel’s struggles. “Good boy,” the man said, and leaned in to kiss Nathaniel again, his light hair swinging down to hide their faces. One of the Sutherlin soldiers made a sound of protest, his aversion plain to read on his young face, but the others stood by passively as the captain ran a hand over Nathaniel’s prone body. The blood roared in Taden’s head and he tensed, ready to spring despite the sword digging into his spine. But a harsh wheeze and gurgle from the captain stopped him. He watched in amazement as the captain’s body suddenly collapsed on top of Nathaniel. The Sutherlin soldiers eyed each other in obvious fear. The young man who’d protested the captain’s behavior finally approached the sprawled men. “Captain?” he asked, nudging the man’s shoulder with a booted foot. When there was no response, the soldier took a knee and rolled the man off Nathaniel. He leapt to his feet with a cry of horror. Blood pooled in the captain’s eyes and nostrils and flowed freely from his mouth as his heart pumped out his life. While the Sutherlins were distracted by the shocking sight, Taden crawled over to Nathaniel and helped him sit up. Nathaniel looked at him with confusion, then leaned against Taden’s shoulder with a sigh. Taden felt the tremors that ran his darling’s body. Nathaniel’s skin was icy and his breathing shallow. Taden held him closely, knowing the Sutherlins would deal with them soon enough. Nathaniel drew a shuddering breath. “He won’t [ Pobierz całość w formacie PDF ] |
