"It's a great idea! Celine whined to Drake at dinner. I can bake anything."
"Yeah, but what do you know about running a business? Drake pointed his finger at her and Carrick
slapped him on the shoulder.
"Give her a break, Carrick said. I think it's a good idea too. Why can't she try to start a bakery in this
town? Have you looked around the place? It needs life Drake or it's going to die."
"Your dad wants you to finish school, Drake went on, ignoring Carrick. How are you going to do
both."
"I'm going to do it with her, Carrick told her over his shoulder.
"No way! Drake yelled.
Celine rolled her eyes at him, slumped back in her seat with her arms crossed over her chest. Now you
sound like a damn bigot."
"Hey! Drake frowned at Celine.
"Come on, Drake. You like Carrick home, like the obedient mate."
"No I like her safe and with her damn nutty father out there the woods here are perfect to keep her that
way."
"Stop being a damn bear, Cole came into the kitchen, cell phone in hand. He grabbed a chair, turned it
around, and straddled the seat, tossing the phone on the table. Start thinking with your stomach, man.
All that pastry, cakes, cookies, breads. Mmmm, damn it makes me hungry just thinking about it."
"Not helping here, Drake grumbled.
"No luck getting a hold of Chase? Carrick asked.
"Not answering, Cole sighed.
"Speaking of calling, Drake returned his attention back to Celine. Have you called your father yet to let
him know how things are going between you two?"
"No. I was going to call home in a bit. Celine pointed her finger at him, And I bet he will support my
idea. Cole snickered and Celine got up, taking his phone, leaving the room. She dialed the number as
she headed for the porch. Hi mom!"

"Hey baby! How're things going? Jaclyn asked.
Celine smiled, He did it! He claimed me! She couldn't keep from smiling or sounding like an excited
child. God, I never thought it would be this good."
"We got the call this morning about the claim. Your dad is grumbling, but happy Cole did the right thing.
How is everything else up there?"
"Not too bad. Chase set up a camper on the ground grandma gave him to live on. So he sort of moved
out of the house. Mom, um, I want to do something but don't know how you guys will feel about it.
Drake hates the idea."
"Since when has he ever hated anything you do? Jaclyn laughed.
"Since I want to start a bakery business. Celine bit her lower lip when it got quiet on the phone.
 Mom?"
"Wow, Celine, that's a lot of work you're talking about. Are you sure you want to do something like
that?"
"This place is so beautiful and the town needs so much help. I think opening a bakery will really help it."
"But what about school? Jaclyn sighed. You know your father wants you to finish college."
"And I will! she rushed on. I'll change my major to business. That'll give me the time I need to get the
place fixed up. Carrick is thinking about working with me, as soon as she can convince Drake."
"You really are going to have to talk this over with your father, Celine. I'm all for making your way in this
world, but your dad is old fashioned. He's very protective of the family. He might not think it's such a
great idea with Stan out there trying to kill everyone."
Celine ran her hand through her hair, sitting down on the steps. I understand that, but I also need a life.
We all need a life and we can't keep hiding because of that lunatic!"
"Celine you aren't telling me anything I don't already know. Jaclyn sighed. Tell you what. I do think
having something you can call your own is great. So on one condition will I talk to your father for you.
Make that two."
She was almost afraid to ask. What?"
"One. You have to finish school. There is no way in hell your father will even consider saying yes if you
drop out."
"And the other?"
"Have to bribe your mother monthly with those damn sticky buns of yours."
Celine smiled. I think I can handle that."
"I'll see what I can do, but I make no promises, you know he only wants what's best for you. Jaclyn
wasn't joking anymore on the other end. He might not even okay a thing until after you finish school."

"Well, tell him that at the end of summer I'll be home to finish school, only if he okays this."
Jaclyn laughed, You are just like him."
"That's funny, Drake says I'm just like you! Celine giggled. Night. Tell Daddy I love him and will call
back soon."
"Take care, you know we love you , baby."
"Love you too, mom."
"Well, what'd he say?"
Celine jumped. Cole had snuck outside, scaring her. Damn-it, Cole!"
Cole laughed, Sorry."
"He wasn't there, talked to my mother. She stood up, handing him the phone. My mother likes the idea
and is going to work on him for me. But part of the deal is I have to finish school if I want to do
anything."
"I agree, he nodded, sliding his hands into his pockets. You should finish school. It's very important."
"But what about this?"
Cole reached for her and Celine went very willingly into his arms. What we have will never go away.
You go where I go, and I go where you go. It's that simple. You go back to school; I'll be there with
you. You're not going to lose me Celine. You're stuck with me for life now."
She smiled, reached up, touching his face. You really are the best, you know that."
"Well I do try, he winked.
"So, the full moon is tomorrow night."
"Uh-huh, he nodded, swaying back and forth with her.
"Want to give me a hint as to what I can expect?"
"Umm, not really."
Celine squealed and hit him in the arm. That's not fair!"
"I know. He had a wicked glint in his eye. But you need to have something to look forward to."
She raised her chin and played with his long hair, Can I look forward to something tonight, instead?"
"Oh, he chuckled. You little devil. He kissed her on the tip of the nose. And the answer is no. You
have to wait forthat until tomorrow night."

"Payback is a bitch Cole, you do know that."
He kissed her deep, stealing her breath, Umm, I look forward to it. He moaned against her lips. Now
get your sweet ass up to bed. You're going to need all the rest you can get because I intend to keep you
up very late tomorrow night."
"You're a damn tease, you know that?"
"Learned over the years at your heels, baby. He kissed her again. Now go! he turned, gave her a
slight shove to the door with a swat on her ass.
"God, this better be worth it."
